CRYSTALLINE

Sydney, 2024

My work Crystalline was presented at AIM and the Sydney Conservatorium as part of the Australasian Computer Music Conference (ACMC) in October of 2024.

The Sounds of Sustainability Project is a multi-site, inter-institutional multimedia art project that transforms sustainable commercial worksites into living, moving, sounding artworks. GEO:Space is the 2024 iteration of this progressive Sounds of Sustainability collaboration.

Initiated by Dr Ivan Zavada and The University of Sydney, the Australian Institute of Music’s 2022 contribution to the ongoing collaborative effort saw Bachelor of Music (Composition and Production) students (led by lecturer Dr Mark Olivero) capture the sounds of construction as AIM’s new Sydney campus was built earlier that year. In 2024 the liminal spaces between AIM, the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and the University of Sydney’s Composition and Music Technology, students will capture the ‘geographical spaces’ between our institutions with the goal and outcome of creating new, multimedia, collaborative media works. Led by Associate Professor Robert Sazdov, UTS students prepared the concert master tracks for an engaging and immersive listening experience, taking into account the spectral and dynamic qualities of each composition.
